MODERN SLAVERY STATEMENT
Our Approach to Defeating Slavery.
Introduction from the Managing Director
Plenty of statistics show that the tragedy of slavery and exploitation is alive in our nation. At
INDECS statistics are a vital raw material for our business. We know though that it is not the
numbers, but the story behind them, and how we respond to that story that counts.
Our values are to be straightforward, confident, partnering and friendly in all that we do, and our
response to modern day slavery lives these values out by:
• paying at least the living wage to all of our people;
• striving to make each person’s time at INDECS the best job each of us will ever have;
• both challenging and supporting our suppliers as they do their bit in this battle; and
• applying the spirit as well as the letter of the law.
The statistical goal we have in mind on modern day slavery is zero tolerance in any aspect of how
we do business.
Below are just some of our ways of seeking that goal.
Our structure and business
INDECS encompasses a broad range of services, providing the full spectrum of risk management
consultancy to energy and non energy related companies. Our specialists offer fully independent
advice tailored to your exact requirements. From devising effective risk management and insurance
programmes, to taking care of complex claim negotiations and advising on major finance deals, we
have the insight, focus and vision you need to achieve your objectives.
Given the nature of what we do, we believe that there is a low risk of slavery or human trafficking
having a connection with our business activities. But there is no room for complacency in that
belief, so, amongst other things, we have taken the steps detailed below.
Our policies on slavery and human trafficking
The policies we have in place and our anti-slavery statement, reflect our commitment to:
• paying people fairly and properly for their work;
• acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships; and
• enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking
place anywhere in our business or supply chains.
The main policies include:
Fair Pay
INDECS is committed to ensuring that all directly employed and contracted staff receives fair
remuneration for the job they perform. We are an employer committed to paying at least the living
wage set each year by the Living Wage Foundation. These rates are based on research and reflect
the levels of income required to meet a socially acceptable minimum standard of living.
Whistleblowing
We encourage all workers, customers and other business partners to report any concerns related to
its direct activities or supply chains. This includes any circumstances that may give rise to
increased risk of slavery or human trafficking. Our whistleblowing procedure is designed to make it
easy for workers to make disclosures, without fear of retaliation.
Employee Awareness and Compliance
INDECS’ employee handbook sets out all of our employment policies and procedures.
Recruitment
Most of INDECS’ workforce is employed directly on a permanent or fixed term basis. Our recruitment
takes place through a combination of direct advertising on our website and in industry
publications/digital media; using reputable agencies and relying on referrals from employees within
our organisation.
The firm only uses specified, reputable employment agencies and has a set of standard terms and
conditions of business with each agency. We verify the practices of any new recruitment agency as
part of our terms of business with them and before accepting workers from that agency.
All employees who join us are subject to checks to ensure they are genuine applicants operating as
free agents with the required level of propriety. These include verification of identity,
references and evidence of qualifications.
Our Commitment
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our
group’s statement on the prevention of slavery and human trafficking for the financial year ending
31 March 2025.
